You are here with Voices Merging. We invite all art forms from poetry to spoken word, to music and visual arts. As a student based arts collation, we strive to appreciate and provide a safe, fun, and respectful environment for all performers to come and showcase their talents for one of the largest and most amazing open mic audiences in the twin cities.
(Voice's Merging in All Black during "Sit-In, It's A Movement" a very special open mic speaking out against Domestic Violence and Police Brutality.)
Voices Merging is a University of Minnesota student group that promotes the Urban Arts right here in the Twin Cities. We strive to enrich learning, increase tolerance, inject learning, and bring fun to the lives of students and those living within the community.
[How do we do that?]
Several ways, our most popular are our Open Mic Mondays. Our Open Mic has now become the largest amateur Open Mic within the Twin Cities, a major accomplishment especially by a volunteer-based, non-profit, student operated organization.
In addition, Voice's Merging Performs in Twin Cities area High Schools as a way to introduce the Urban Arts to young adults, and bring a new, more involved student population to the University of Minnesota.
We also visit Open Mic events on other higher learning campuses, host writing workshops, organization and execute M.C. Battles and Poetry Slams, Create Venues for graffiti/painting/sketch artists. Overall, Voices Merging contributes to the Twin Cities altogether.
